    Africa Africa's future depends on education. The population of Africa is expected to quadruple in the next 80 years. Young people need prospects for the future – and quality education.     Education enables upward socioeconomic mobility and is a key to escaping poverty. Over the past decade, major progress was made towards increasing access to education and school enrollment rates. National Book Week is about promoting reading. It is part of a national effort to embrace the value of reading and share it with as many people as possible.     The initiative, which is supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), promotes girls and women’s education through the integration of gender into education policy and practice in sub-Saharan Africa. South Africa Mobile Library Project provides free and easy access to the books for children especially in remote areas. Aiming for equity of primary education in South Africa, Sony supports NPO, South Africa Primary Education Support Initiative (SAPESI) to continue this project.

Books For Africa, in partnership with the USAID Africa Education Initiative, recently delivered a foot container of textbooks that were distributed to schools in Durban and Johannesburg.
